The House Where Winter Lives, Stratford, London
This is a show for children aged 3-6 and their families, held at the Discover Children’s Story Centre in Stratford, London. Immerse yourself in the magic of winter via this interactive storytelling adventure. You start in the cosy cottage of two forest dwellers, as they prepare for a winter feast. Wrap up warm and join them on an adventure through a secret forest in search of a missing key.

Caerphilly’s Medieval Christmas Fayre, Caerphilly
Something for adults and children here. The Medieval Christmas Fayre brings lots of attractions to colourful Caerphilly town, and is suitable for visitors of all ages. You could browse the medieval market and drink ale in the medieval tavern. Look out for the beggars, scoundrels and thieves, and join in with the fun when they are caught and taken to the stocks. There will also be a visit from Father Christmas.

Botanic lights, Edinburgh
The Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh have lit up their champion poplar tree for the festive season, giving an imaginative twist on the usual Christmas trees. The display includes a mix of uplighting and sparkling lights and has been created by light artist Malcolm Innes. The tree will be lit from 1pm to 4pm every day until Sunday, 6 January. Standing at nearly 100 feet tall, it will definitely light up the dark winter afternoons in the garden.

Winter Wonder Zoo, Bristol
20 – 21 December
Head along to Bristol Zoo Gardens on Thursday 20 and Friday 21 December, between 5:30pm – 8pm, for a little Christmas magic. Winter Wonder Zoo is an evening out where families can enjoy all the traditions of Christmas in Bristol Zoo, including reindeer Jingle & Belle, storytelling, Christmas crafts, carol singing, and Santa’s grotto. Several animal houses will also be open. Tickets can be purchased online.

Children’s Christmas Trail at Claremont Landscape Garden, Esher
Get into the spirit of Christmas with a fun family trail around the Claremont Landscape Garden. Open from Saturday 15 December to Wednesday 2 January, 10am-3pm, normal property admission applies, plus 50p per trail. No booking is required.

Festival of Angels, York
15 – 16 December
